Every couple, one of whom is not yet twenty years of age, will meet with a counselor from the Family Life Office to examine the particular issues of their young marriage. If the person is under 18, an evaluation report centering on the basic question of required maturity is to be sent to the parish. The priest or deacon is convinced that one or both parties totally lack an understanding of, or a commitment to, the essential properties of Christian.
The frank admission of the Catholic partners that they have not practiced and do not intend to practice their Catholic faith is strong enough to indicate that they reject explicitly and formally what the church intends them to do when the marriage of baptized persons is celebrated as opposed to simple neglect of the practice of faith. The couple refuses to take part, in good faith, in the formal marriage preparation process.
One or both parties are judged to be lacking in the minimal maturity demanded by Christian marriage. Every effort should be made to put the support program and resources of Archdiocesan agencies at the disposition of the couple. When the couple feels aggrieved by the decision to delay the marriage, or even to postpone it indefinitely, the priest or deacon will assist the couple in lodging an appeal to the Archbishop. Email me. The minimum proximate preparation period for marriage will be about six months.
This period of preparation should start when the couple first contacts the parish priest or deacon to set the wedding date.

It traces its history to the apostles through the Apostolic succession in the Western Latin Church, particularized and recorded in Roman Britain as far back as the 1st century. This ancient link to Rome to which Irenaeus says “every church” should “resort” on account of its “preeminent authority,” has enriched the inter-church identity of the English Catholic Church, not only across Britain and continental Europe but also and especially globally within what is sometimes referred to as the “Catholic Communion of Churches”.
A two and a half century ” Cesura ” marked by The See of Rome Act which enforced the beginning of the separation from the Holy See or popularly, “Rome”, meant that English Catholicism was effectively outlawed and comprehensively stripped of its assets in the land and clerical opponents to reform were either martyred or expelled. Legislative restrictions were placed on Catholics some of which continued into the 20th century while the ban on Catholic worship lasted until the Catholic Relief Act , but did not automatically affect foreign embassies in London , although serving priests could be hounded.
They continued in Eastern Europe under the “patronage” of Catherine the Great who dismissed any papal promulgation as applicable on her territory. Today the English Catholic Church regards Augustine as one of its regional founders, bonding the present head of the Catholic Church in England directly to Pope Gregory’s modern day successor, Pope Francis. This unbroken line of history, going back to Augustine, is symbolised in the bestowal of the pallium , a papal liturgical vestment a woollen cloak on the Catholic successor to St Augustine, the archbishop of Westminster.
To highlight this episcopal and historic continuity, the Archdiocese of Westminster uses the installation rites of pre-Reformation Catholic archbishops of Canterbury and earlier archbishops of Westminster for the installation of each new archbishop of Westminster. Thus, just as Pope Gregory conferred the pallium or woollen cloak on St Augustine, Pope Benedict XVI in that corresponding ancient practice conferred the same symbol of unity on the current head of the Catholic Church in England, Cardinal Vincent Nichols , when he took office.

Wider School Re-Opening in September. We are busy tweaking plans and writing new risk assessments so that we can fully open to all classes. In order for us to continue to operate safely, providing a full curriculum, we are going to group the children into class bubbles. This will mean that throughout the day the children in each class will stay together and their interaction with other classes will be minimal.
On Thursday 3 September and Friday 4 September the children will spend two days with their current teacher. This will enable them to end the year properly by completing some transition activities and also allowing the children the important opportunity of saying their usual goodbyes. From Monday 7 September the children will then move to their new classroom and remain with their new teacher. We will be opening our clubs from Monday 7 September and they will take place in the hall to allow for children and adults to have more space.
The numbers will be limited and working parents will take priority.

B aptism is the first Sacrament a Catholic receives. When an infant is baptized, the faith of the parents bringing the child for baptism is essential. You either are or soon will be the parent of a newborn child. By deciding to have your baby baptized you are making a strong statement that you want to share in that plan and are willing to teach your child about God, who is love. First Things First Even before the birth of your child you should call the Parish Office to begin preparation for baptism.
A tentative date for the baptism can be scheduled, but normally the date is determined after the child is born. Baptisms can occur on almost any day depending on the parish schedule, but they usually take place after one of the weekend Masses. Sometimes, two or more children are baptized at the same time. Upon request, infants can be baptized during one of the weekend Masses.
